Vick pleads guilty, waits to hear if he has NFL future - CNN.com

Ok, I tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, but evidently he is guilty. He says he is anyway. Now, he wants to know if he can still play football. Let's think about that. Could we live with him running an illegal gambling operation? Perhaps. Can we live with him being convicted of committing attrocious and inhumane acts against dogs? Hell, no!! Will he play football again?  I sincerely doubt it. Somethings can be lived down. Forgotten. I just don't think this will ever go away.  It reveals too much about his inner character, or lack of one.

I really wanted this guy to be innocent. I'm not even sure why. I am not a fan of the Atlanta Falcons. I have never met Micheal Vick. Maybe it was for all those kids with the Michael Vick poster in their rooms, who viewed him as an inspiration, something to look up to, a goal they could aspire to. Why'd you have to be such a prick, Michael? Damn.

While they await sentence, I believe they all should be locked in cages at the local dog pound.  I don't think anyone is going to adopt them. Let them wait and see if their number gets called, if you know what I mean.

What do you think would be a just and reasonable punishment for these guys?

You are right it's sad when an "hero" falls...it's probably a good idea to run a background check before we accept heroes.

Just curious is gambling itself illegal there or did he and his mates run an illegal form of it?

just me, I'm with you 100%. According to the latest news he's going to be sentenced to one to one and half years (he could have gotten five years) in a federal pen (damn it) and fined some money. Not enough, in my opinion, for the damage he's done to kids who admired him.
Gambling is legal in Louisiana on Indian land. In casinos. There is no legal gambling on dog fighting there.
I admire athletic ability, but not to the extent of cruelty.

Make a chew toy out of him and throw him to a pack of dogs. Just to give him a little taste of what he did!

Will he serve time? Hell no! Will he make a "comeback?" Unfortunately, yes! Best punishment---degrade him back down to his more-deserved "normal-human" level, like the majority of those who "worship" him.

I get a kick outta these pro-athletes, black, white, or NO color at all. "Nobody owns ME! I own THEM!"

Then WHY do you allow yourselves to be traded like cattle? If you perform well for "the man", he (or she) will keep you, and your millions, on the roster for another season. If not---well, then, you're just like yesterday's lunch---tossed-out on the street, where you started from.......

I wonder what Pete Rose thinks of all this? He got life just for placing bets.

Whether gambling is legal or not, dog fighting isn't! What a lowlife.

SJ: Gambling is legal is specified areas in this country. The government wants its share. Even if a guy hosts a Texas Hold-em poker night at his house, its illegal, if he makes a profit from it. I'd have to read the exact law on that, though.

Bruno, Babzy: Its the arrogance that gets me. What I have learned since from my sources who remain un-named, is that they went to his property in Surry to make an arrest for drug dealing, and that's when they found all the dog stuff. I also heard he was going to pay his cousin to take to the fall, but he wouldn't do it.

Spongy, I like.

EARL: YOU FORGET YOUR MEDS TODAY?? I THOUGHT YOU WERE THE PEACEKEEPER. KILLING DOGS IN THE WAYS THESE DIRTBAGS DID IS HEINOUS. LIFE UNFORTUNATELY THROWS US ALL A CURVEBALL. SOME HAVE A HARDER TIME. BUT YOU EITHER CHOOSE TO LIVE OR CHOOSE TO DIE. I HAVE CHOSEN TO LIVE. LET'S HOPE YOU DO THE SAME.

Willowtree: Pete Rose, in my opinion should be in the Hall of Fame. He served five months in jail. Most of the fans want his ass in the hall of fame, I watched him play in two world series games with the Cinncinnati Reds, and he is one of the best players in baseball history. Don't get me started. Even former president Jimmy Carter said, "evidence about [Rose] specifically betting on baseball is less than compelling." He'd probably call him a jerk.

Earl is all broken up about his failed attempt to romance Tuyet and is wallowing in his misery. Poor sad bugger.

Tuyet has now disallowed comments on her blog. I don't think she knows she can do an invitation only setting.

I sound like a gossipy neighbour hanging over the back fence.

I am beginning to think the three guys (now four) are fictitious or one guy who has multiple personality disorder or someone who is brilliant at conning everyone. Haven't decided yet.

Just some jail time, 1 1/2 years is enough. He ran a dog fighting ring, it's not like he killed two people and ran away in a white bronco. And Michael Vick was kind of a jackass before people found out about the dogfighting thing, I can't see why people would admire him. Kids should admire a better person, like Peyton Manning (he's a better QB than Vick anyway).

And there's no way he'll make a comeback, the press will make a big stink about his dogfighting past, PETA will be the obnoxious little turds they are, and no one (at least no one in the NFL) will hire him.

I like your idea. Local dog pound for them.

Put him in an MMA cage with someone like Randy Couture. If he wins-fine. If he loses castrate him
